Residency of “Facing Familiar Faces”

Facing Familiar Faces, a duet produced by KAIHO has been awarded a one month residency at Studio Pro Arte in frame of Culture Moves Europe and supported by Goethe-Institut. This will give us the time to fully develop the show from the current 20 minutes into a one hour performance.

The duet explores the fragile nature of a family's collective memory visualised through the relationship of two siblings' different perspectives looking back at their childhood. This powerful family bond is further visualised through the scenography’s fragmented pieces of the parental home.

The physicality as a core element is merged with an easily distinguishable narrative structure, during which the borders between dance and theatre is erased through a multitude of different transitions.

Premiere of "Mille Moules"

Mille Moules was created in only 8 days and was an artistic collaboration between choreographer Brandon Lagaert and Korean performer Seungkwan Yang

Mille Moules follows the story of a man who's able to move water to his will, he can make ripples dance across the surface of a lake with just a flick of his fingers. One day, while expanding his movement vocabulary, the water stops responding to his input. This marks the start of a journey.

Bringing together two separate elements, dance and Foley/sound design, this performance visualises the performer's movements in a way that goes beyond the technique. Using elements from both live performance and film, we strive to craft a style that brings not only different artforms together as well as different cultures.

Premiere of our short-film “The currency of time”

We have proudly premiered “The currency of time” on the 2th of February.

The result came to fruition after a creation process of two weeks, one week of shooting and one week of editing. The physicality was created in collaboration with the 3rd year students of PERA in Northern Cyprus.

The story revolves around a woman's journey as she navigates the space between life and death, a path illuminated by the collective memories and guidance of her tightly-knit community. Each member contributes to her voyage, recounting shared experiences and unique moments that deeply impacted their lives.

This narrative journey is not just a tribute to the woman's life, but also a reflection on the community's resilience in the face of loss. As they come together to guide her spirit to the afterlife, their shared grief transforms into a powerful bond of collective healing, reaffirming their faith in life's cyclical nature.
